Projects
Jumping Creek Development
Scope
QMAX undertook the design and installation of the Jumping Creek pump station, carefully addressing various design complexities and on-site factors, ensuring adherence to the local council’s specific requirements for a smooth, end-to-end project delivery.
Challenges
QMAX encountered several design challenges during the planning phase of the project. A crucial consideration was managing pump flow rates, particularly due to the limited capacity headroom of the existing carrier main into which we were pumping. This necessitated a thorough evaluation of various pump and rising main combinations to devise a system that would operate efficiently both in its initial stages and at its future final flow rate design.
Furthermore, accommodating the 8.0m depth of the incoming gravity main required the construction of a sizable 3.2m diameter pump station, reaching a depth of 9.0m. Adhering to QMAX Pumping Systems’ renowned standards, the system was constructed using top-tier components, including 15kW Flygt submersible pumps, full 316SS pipework, a resilient seated valve train, and an ABB magnetic flow meter.
In terms of safety and security, the system was equipped with additional features such as Austral gas-tight aluminum covers with integrated four-sided safety grates, ensuring protection and peace of mind. Moreover, a LED pole-mounted work light was installed to prioritize service and maintenance safety, regardless of the time of day or night.
