Scope

QMAX was engaged by Civil Unlimited to deliver a complete mains water booster system for the Roma One Business Park in regional Queensland. This turnkey infrastructure solution was designed to provide reliable water pressure throughout the commercial development, ensuring consistent service delivery for the business park’s operations and tenants.

The project encompassed a comprehensive prefabricated solution, delivering a state-of-the-art booster pump system fully assembled and tested prior to dispatch. Our scope included the design and supply of a complete booster pump set capable of delivering 0-48L/s at a constant pressure of 500kPa, housed within a custom precast concrete pump house. The system was engineered with all necessary components factory-integrated, including stainless steel connecting pipework, isolation and bypass valves, pump controller, and electrical meter board. The precast concrete pump house was manufactured complete with internal lighting and power outlets, providing a fully functional and weather-protected installation ready for immediate connection upon delivery.

This holistic approach ensured the delivery of a highly efficient, reliable, and installation-ready water pressure management solution for the Roma One Business Park. The prefabricated design strategy guaranteed minimal on-site construction time while providing the commercial development with a robust and maintainable system. The project showcased QMAX’s ability to deliver advanced, turnkey solutions that meet the specific needs of regional commercial developments while significantly reducing installation complexity and site labour requirements.

Challenges

The Roma One Business Park project presented unique logistical challenges that required adaptive planning and coordination to ensure successful delivery to the regional Queensland site.

A primary challenge was the site’s inability to receive the completed booster pump system at the originally scheduled delivery time. Site conditions did not permit immediate installation, requiring the prefabricated system to remain in storage at QMAX’s Queanbeyan facility following the completion of the pump system fit-out works. This distinctive situation necessitated careful coordination with Civil Unlimited and additional logistical planning to manage the extended storage period and subsequent delivery timing. Our team implemented a flexible project management approach to accommodate the varying site readiness, which included arranging crane hire for unloading the system from the transport trailer during storage and reloading when site conditions became suitable for delivery and installation.

Another key challenge was managing the extended freight logistics from our Queanbeyan manufacturing facility to the Roma, Queensland site. The original delivery schedule was based on a standard transport timeline with the trailer remaining at our facility for 4-5 days during fit-out works before immediate dispatch. However, the site condition delays required an entirely revised freight arrangement, with additional coordination to schedule the long-distance transport at the optimal time for site readiness. Our team addressed this by implementing detailed communication protocols with the freight operators and client, ensuring the completed system could be delivered efficiently when the site was prepared for installation. This coordination was critical to maintaining project momentum and ensuring the infrastructure was delivered intact and ready for rapid commissioning once on-site.

The successful completion of this project, despite these logistical challenges, demonstrated QMAX’s expertise in delivering prefabricated infrastructure solutions to regional locations. The client was satisfied with the adaptive approach and quality outcome provided by our team, highlighting our capability to manage changing site conditions while delivering exceptional turnkey pump systems for commercial developments across regional Australia.
