Scope

At the beginning of last year QMAX were engaged by our long-standing customer Benmax to supply the pumps, inertia bases and seismic spring mounts for the HVAC system at Civic Quarter 2, Canberra, ACT.

Challenges

The challenge at the time of order was that we were unsure of the vibration isolation requirements and didn’t have enough room in the plant room to put separate inertia bases. QMAX worked closely with Benmax to redesign the mounting arrangement and come up with a design that worked as a baseplate for the pump and an inertia base with provision for the seismic spring mounts. We successfully delivered a modular mounting arrangement, and the customer was able to fill the frame with concrete to create their inertia base. We delivered the pumps in November 2021 with a total of 27 pumps. Of these 27 only 2 pumps ever had any issues and our service team were able to get to site within 48 hours to resolve them and keep the project on track.
