Scope

QMAX Pumping Systems, in collaboration with Jascott Civil, delivered a key infrastructure component for the Hill Street development project in Young, NSW. This project transformed a large block of land on the edge of town into a 26-lot residential area, contributing to local housing options and enhancing the community. QMAX installed a Fortis sewer pump station which overcame the site’s topographical challenges. The system comprised a 2.2m diameter, 5.0m deep Fortis precast concrete pump station, dual Grundfos submersible grinder pumps, a well washer, HDPE pipework, DN50 resilient seated valves, and a full SCADA-compatible controller. The design and implementation phase prioritized meeting all council requirements for design, functionality, operator safety, and ongoing maintenance.

Challenges

The primary challenge stemmed from the site’s lower elevation compared to neighboring properties. This required the installation of the sewer pump station to ensure a functional wastewater system. Furthermore, the project team navigated stringent council regulations concerning the pump station’s design and operation, while simultaneously ensuring operator safety and ease of maintenance for the installed system.
